Cinemall App

Role: UX Designer, Researcher

Tools: Pen & Paper, Figma

Duration: January 2023- June 2023

Project goal

Cinemall is a movie theater located in the suburbs of many locations around the US. It strives to create an easy way for people to enjoy their movie with ordering food. The app is for people who want to skip the line or have trouble communicating with others via a language barrier or social anxiety.

Audience

I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the user I’m designing for and their needs. Primary user groups identified was families, friends, dates, and solo movie goers.

Pain Points

From the interviews I identified customers of Cinemall only go to the movie theater about two times a month. The research shows they have pain points from ordering food or not getting anything at all.

Mockups & Low Fidelity Prototypes

User Feedback

I conducted two rounds of usability studies. There was six participants in each study. The first usability study was on the wireframe designs. Insights was gathered to improve the app to be used on the second study of a high fidelity prototype.

Final Design

Reflection & Next Steps

From designing Cinemall, I learned that there is always going to be changes from the original design all the way up to the final design. Updates will still be needed based on user and peer feedback.

Next Steps:

Conduct another round of usability and accessibility studies to see if pain points were fixed.

Check customer reviews of the app to see if improvements need to be made.
